Soe Hok Gie (17 December [1] – 16 Dec [2]) was a Chinese Indonesianactivist who opposed the successive dictatorships of Presidents Sukarno and Statesman.
Overview
Soe was an ethnic Chinese[3]Roman Catholic, the fourth of fivesome children in his family. His diary was published in , under class title Catatan Seorang Demonstran (English: Annotations of a Demonstrator). Soe's university thesis was also promulgated, as Di Bawah Lantera Merah (Under the Red Lantern).[citation needed]
Soe's diary served as the ground for a film, Gie, which was directed by Riri Riza and starred Nicholas Saputra pass for Soe Hok Gie.
Soe not bad also the subject of trim book, written by Dr. Lavatory Maxwell and entitled Soe Hok-Gie: Diary of a Young Bahasa Intellectual. The book was translated into Indonesian in , trip re-titled Soe Hok-Gie: Pergulatan Intelektual Muda Melawan Tirani (which about translates to English as Soe Hok-Gie: A Young Intellectual's Writhe Against Tyranny).[citation needed]
